70 km off the mainland coast stands a colorfulsandrock in the North Sea, its red color owes a high iron content: Helgoland. It is 61 m high and 2 km long and up to 600 m wide. Helgoland includes the neighboring island called Dune. It was 1721 by a storm surge separated and has no permanent residents. It has a sandy beach. The only 1 sq. km large main island, with its 1,650 inhabitants and the 0.7 sq km large dune resting on a more than 5 square kilometers large rock. Today the island lives mainly from tourism. Over 2200 beds are available to host guests; up to 6000 guests for a day are coming in the summer using the opportunity to buy tax free.

Inselrundgang Most tour boats need to anchor far away from the island. The passengers then climb into open motor boats, up to 50 people standing and and sitting find place in it. Catamarans, however, lay in the south port. First, take a stroll through the main street of the sub-country, the Lung Wai, or lift the 184-step staircase up to the Oberland. You can use an approximately 3 km long Klippenrandweg and also pass by the Long Anna and the Lummenfelsen.
shopping Prices for tobacco and spirits are largely homogeneous, price differences exist in perfumes, sweets and butter. Duty-free for people over 16 years allows 200 cigarettes, 1 liter of spirits, 5 kg of butter and 50 grams of perfume.
