The former summer residence of Prussian kings and German emperors is beautifully situated on the shores of the river Havel. Who listens to Potsdam, thinks first of all of Schloss Sanssouci. The city has the largest park and castle complex north of the Alps. Its just breathtaking.
Schloss Sanssouci The castle is rich equipped with furniture, paintings, sculptures and porcelain mainly from the 18th century. As one of the most beautiful rooms of the German Rococo is the concert room, in which paintings, sculptures and crafts. The concert room includes the reception room in which the guests at the audience with the king had to wait. In the library there are 2200 books stored in cabinets. Trains Potsdam has IC remote from the west, otherwise you can reach Potsdam easily from Berlin. From the big stations of Berlin the S-Bahn S7 takes you directly to Potsdam. It stops in Babelsberg and Hauptbahnhof.
Plane The closest airport with international connections is in Berlin Schoenefeld.
Public Transport The tram and bus network is well developed, so everyone quickly arrives its destination. You get tickets at vending machines, in the first sections of trams and buses, but they are also available in advance, including the VIP customer service center in the William Gallery. Potsdam and Berlin form a transport association.
