With more than 2 million inhabitants. the city is proud to have the most churches in the country. 2162 m in height located (130 km east of Mexico City, on a pass highway connected with the capital) Puebla is flanked of four usually snowcapped volcanoes: Popocatepetl and Ixtaccíhuatl on the west side, La Malinche in the north and Pico de Orizaba in the east. The city is also the headquarter of the world's largest Volkswagen plant, in which is since 2003 the VW Beetle is mounted. The sprawling, in Spanish checkerboard-style built center of the city is a historical monument. Numerous houses are decorated with painted Talavera tiles.

Pico de Orizaba Not much known as the popo abroad is Mexico's highest mountain, but snowy, 5760 m high volcano Orizaba, Citlaltépetl also called on the eastern border of the state of Puebla.
